This tracheostomy training course aims to raise awareness, knowledge and skills in care and management of those with tracheostomy’s.

- Indications for performing a tracheostomy, identity the difference in those requiring it for a short term or long term
- How physiological changes occur after a tracheostomy procedure.
- Understand the difference between a tracheostomy and laryngectomy
- Gain a understanding of the different types of tracheostomy tubes
- Day to Day Care including use of dressings
- Gain a understanding of the importance of inner tube cleaning, use of humidification and Suctioning
- Identify red flags, Respiratory distress, how to respond to decannulation, mucus plugs and emergency situations
- Understand the importance of Documentation and infection control
