This suction and oxygen care training course will raise awareness, skills and knowledge in relation to safe oral and nasal suctioning and Oxygen therapy usage when indicated.
- Develop an understanding of the anatomy and physiology of the respiratory system
- Gain an understanding of oral and nasal suctioning – indications, contra indications and complications
- How to monitor respiratory function, usage of oxygen saturation monitors/ pulse oximeters and be able to identify when someone may need oxygen
- Signs and symptoms of respiratory distress
- Have a understanding of person centred care, documentation and infection control
- Practical Demonstration of suctioning
